The Diamond Challenge is excited to announce our new partnership with the Jefferson Awards Foundation, Americaβs most prestigious and long-standing organization dedicated to cultivating and celebrating public service! JAF was founded in 1972 by Sam Beard, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and United States Senator Robert Taft Jr. to honor individuals who make extraordinary contributions to communities across the country.
JAF has graciously chosen to offer the top three winning teams from our Social Venture competition the opportunity to attend a one day bootcamp with the National Director of their GlobeChangers program, Elizabeth Kennedy. The bootcamp will take place on April 14th, 2016 at the University of Delawareβs Clayton Hall in Newark, Delaware, the day before our Youth Entrepreneur Summit (YES!), which features the final round of the Diamond Challenge.
Started in 2010, the GlobeChangers program helps students up to 25 years old change the world by training them to implement their big ideas on a global scale. So far, JAF has trained 100 GlobeChangers, and plans to enlist 10,000 more over the next ten years!
The Diamond Challenge would also like to congratulate Sam Beard for being honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award from the PeaceJam Foundation! Mr. Beard has dedicated his entire life to public service and embodies the true spirit of social entrepreneurship. He has worked with seven different US Presidents to create and direct programs dedicated to improving the quality of life for low-income Americans, and through his work with JAF, has trained over 20,000 student leaders.
We hope that the achievements of Mr. Beard inspire you to make your own impact on the world and continue to pursue all of your entrepreneurial endeavors.
